International families
Globalisation has had a profound impact on family law, particularly in cases of expatriation, mixed marriages, anticipating inheritance when assets are split up in several countries or filiation when the link is created abroad. And yet, families are still subject to the greatest cultural, religious and legislative differences.
International law is a technically complex matter, constantly evolving, and requires in particular responsiveness, experience and common sense. Responsiveness in order to make the right and quick diagnosis and to seize the right jurisdiction. Experience, to identify the right issues and understand how our client would be addressed elsewhere. Common sense to determine the right strategy, with a pragmatic and realistic approach to complex international situations.
With 20 years of experience in jurisdictional conflicts and the ability to work in English (but also in other languages) and as a team, highly involved in the most recognised associations of international family law, we know how to urgently call upon our network of colleagues abroad to accompany our clients with pedagogy and to resolve situations that are often very complex.
We do so with pragmatism, discretion, and with the aim of resolving conflicts whenever possible while minimising collateral damage and respecting multicultural differences.
Our economic culture allows us to understand and adapt to legal structures that are foreign to French law (trusts…) while our responsibilities in different international organisations help us to understand the evolution of international regulations and international legal systems.
